Diane L Caito, (née Leonard), died Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the age of 82 (born April 29, 1943). She was known to be a kind-hearted person, a jokester who enjoyed making people laugh, a lover of animals, especially her dogs, but more than all else, she loved her husband, daughters, grandchildren, and family. She is survived by Paul M Caito, husband of 49 years. She is also survived by daughters from her first marriage to Tommy Allen “Bud” Nelson, who died in 1973; they are Cynthia L Nelson Rutter and Gina M Nelson. Cindy’s children are Jared Wahl and Tyler Wahl. Gina’s children are Chelsey Elick, Alyssa Smathers, and Colton Elick. She is also survived by family members’ respective spouses, great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends. Sometime after the death of her first husband, Diane and Paul were introduced to each other by mutual friends. They married in 1976. Like her parents before her, Arthur and Elsey Leonard, Diane could play several musical instruments. She was especially good with the guitar, mandolin, and harmonica. One of Paul’s favorite memories is of an excursion they took on the Becky Thatcher riverboat at Marietta. They spent many years together as members of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in New Lexington. Even when bedfast and until shortly before her death, she shared her Bible-based hope for the future with caregivers.
