David H. Wamer, 78, of Somerset, passed away at OSU Ross Hospital in Columbus on Thursday, February 3, 2022.
Dave was born March 2, 1943, the son of the late David Henry and Jane Elizabeth (Kullman) Wamer. Dave worked as a surveyor for ODOT for 36 years and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Somerset. Dave was an avid sports fan, and always rooted for the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cincinnati Reds. He coached baseball for the Somerset Youth League and Babe Ruth for many years and was an avid supporter of the Sheridan Generals. Dave enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in sports and always attended all of their games. He also loved going to breakfast with his golfing buddies and enjoyed drinking coffee at the Snack Bar with his friends.
Dave loved traveling, hunting, playing golf and spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Sue Ann; sons, David (Karen), Tim (Marcy), Dan (Amber); and grandchildren, Alex, Morgan, Ryan, Noah, Abigail, and Ashley (AJ); and two great grandchildren, Guinevere and Fawna; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and James Hanson.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Andre’ Joseph LaCasse, O.P. as celebrant. Military honors will be provided by the Somerset American Legion Leo Ryan Post 58. Private burial of the cremains will be at a later date.
