Curtis B. Fraley passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, in Zanesville, Ohio at the age of 75.
Curtis was born on September 27, 1950, to Clifton Fraley Sr. and Leola Marguerette Hutton. He is survived by his wife Janet Rayburn Fraley, his children, Tina Fraley and Christine Hanson, his grandchildren, Haley Sampson and Hannah Towndrow, and six great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death in addition to his parents, by his son, James Howerton, great-granddaughter, Caitlyn Calone, and his siblings, Richard, Royce, Clifton Jr. and Bonnie.
He was an amazing man, father, grandfather, brother, son, and husband to his wife, Janet, whom he loved dearly and had a happy life with. He greatly admired and adored the family he gained from his loving wife Janet, and cherished the time spent with them. This included her daughters, Selena Hillyard and Jennifer Reichley, along with 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
He made an impression on everyone he met during his life, and had an ability to fix, build, or help anyone that he could. He loved motorcycles, watching westerns and sports, cooking breakfast, fishing, and camping. He spent his life between West Virginia and Ohio, from being raised in a coal mining family, studying engine mechanics at Mann High School, Forestry at Hocking College, raising a family at the same time, and never being tired after a long day’s work to take care of us at home. He raised three children giving us freedom to learn and experience life. Our fondest memories of him were tearing apart engines during the day and cooking us breakfast at night.
In his retirement, he truly found peace and happiness with Janet and their dog, Princess, whom he enjoyed taking golf cart rides with around the campsite. He never stopped fixing, building, or making life better for them or for others. He never complained but always moved forward. He led the fullest life and had once in a lifetime experiences. This world was so lucky to have him in it, and we are so thankful for our time with him and for everyone he impacted.
Per his request, graveside services will be held in the Spring for the family, following his cremation.
