Carl Ed Fondale, 76, of Junction City, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 2, 2023.
Carl Ed was born January 10, 1947, to the late Carl and Lewella (Robb) Fondale. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Junction City.
After graduating from New Lexington High School in 1965 where he ran track and played on the State Championship football team, he was a Vietnam era Air Force veteran, proudly serving his country for four years. After leaving the military, Carl Ed joined the Junction City American Legion Post 376 and served as a district officer until his death.
Carl Ed was very involved in his community over his lifetime. He served many years as a City Council member for Junction City, served 20 years as a New Lexington City School Board member, and was on the 4th of July Committee for Junction City for many years. Carl Ed loved golfing, fishing, sports, gardening, wine making, woodworking, and spending time and doing things with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ruth (Ferguson) Fondale; four children, Carlotta Siemer, Joe (Allison) Fondale, Davo (Angie) Fondale and Michael Fondale; grandchildren, Chloe (Isaac) Orecchio, Ryan and Leah Siemer, Ethan and Natalie Fondale, Elaine and Claire Fondale and A.J. Fondale; great-granddaughter, Carly Friesner; siblings, John Fondale and Nancy Parkman; and his nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Don and Bonnie Ferguson; brother, Charles Fondale; sister, Mary Jo Baxter; and nephew Todd Fondale.
Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2023, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1170 St. Rt. 668 N., Junction City, Ohio and one hour prior to the service at the church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2023, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Todd Lehigh as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery where graveside military honors will be provided by the Junction City American Legion Post 376. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
