Bertha Jane Brobst, 82, of Somerset, Ohio, died peacefully at home Thursday, July 3, 2025. Bertha was born in Obetz, Ohio to the late George Albert and Bessie (Dixon) Amos Sr. She attended Hamilton Township High School for 12 years. She became a resident of Somerset in 1979, where she along with her husband served with the volunteer EMS of Rushcreek and Somerset for many years. Bertha worked respectively at FMC and MidOhio in Lancaster for a number of years. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 53 years, Vaughn E. Brobst of Somerset; her sisters, Barbara Skeen of Baltimore, Nancy Shell of Chillicothe, Georgianne Wise of Columbus, Beth Amos of Columbus, George Amos Jr. (Sherry Zombi) of Newark; her children, Claude (Jaime) Reed Jr. of Frazeysburg, Teena (Jeffrey) Kennedy of Somerset, Kenneth Brobst of Colorado, and Vaunda (Ereal) Peterson of Florida; Grand blessings, Suzzanna Miller of Grandview, Sarah (Chris) Stevens of Somerset, David (Andrea) Bardsley Jr. of Junction City, Jack (Shauna) Bardsley of Newark, Cortney Mitchell of Newark, Marcus (Erin) Reed of Virginia, Ethan, Megan and Grayson Whitlock of Somerset, Brandon (Nicole) Reed of Virginia, Amanda (Colin) Small of Indiana, Kaden (Justin) Myers of Buckeye Lake, Chandler Thompson of Utica, Gage Thompson (Desiree Atkins) of Newark, Cale Thompson of Newark, Riley (Lincoln) Valentine of Logan, Tucker Thompson of Frazeysburg; Great Grand blessings, Lillian, Abigail, Anneliese, Brennen, Alyssa, Catalina, Holden, Saelor, Axel, Landon, Wesson, Wyatt, Kamren, Hudson, Braxton, Atticus, Alaina, Denver, Carson, Keira, Olivia, Chase, Paige, Brandon Jr., Tanner, Maisie, Kenna, and Grayson; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews of whom she was a favorite. Bertha was preceded in death by a daughter, Suzanna M. Reed; sister, Sandra S. Rice; sisters-in-law, Sandra S. Amos, Janet Brobst, Janice Scott, and Belinda Brobst; brothers-in-law, Ival Brobst, Mark Brobst, Donald Skeen, Walter Wise, and George Shell. Bertha’s legacy will be forever ingrained into the many loved ones and friends she faithfully, givingly touched with her loving spirit. Many adventurous trips and outings throughout her life preserves these precious memories. She will be dearly missed until that beautiful reunion day. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
