Anita G (Hinton) Berkheimer
August 21, 1963 ~ September 28, 2023 (age 60) 60 Years Old
20 Flowers or Condolences have been shared with support of Anita's family - View on Tribute Wall
Anita Berkheimer, 60, of Thornville, Ohio passed away September 28th, 2023, with her family by her side. Anita was born August 21st, 1963, in Corinth, Mississippi and grew up throughout the south finding passions in fishing, traveling to NASCAR races, and working with computers or any cutting-edge technology of that time. She met the love of her life David Berkheimer in Nashville where she was living as a young adult and where they would court for a short period before they married. After marriage, they moved to Ohio and started their family where they have lived for almost 40 years. The last 35 years of Anita’s life were spent in Thornville, OH, where she was a proud member of the community. Anita was a loving mother and fierce protector of her family. A true “mama-bear”, she would sacrifice anything to give her kids the absolute best life and experiences she could offer.
Anita was a mother to many kids in the community, as her kids grew up in Perry County. She always made sure fun was had and memories were made. She never missed a sporting event, was there to cheer in times of success and help teach in times of loss. From her employment at Northern Local Schools to co-founding a company that she worked at till the day of her last breath, Anita constantly looked for ways to help others and lessen someone’s burden.
Of her many titles: Daughter, Wife, Mother, President & CEO… her absolute favorite was Grammy. She adored her grandkids and took every opportunity to speak of them. She would routinely sacrifice her schedule if it conflicted with one of her grandkid’s sports schedules and travel to wherever was needed to see them perform. She loved to travel, an occasional visit to a casino, everything Disney, and most of all time spent with family. The rock and glue of the family, Anita, will be dearly missed and forever remembered by those who were lucky enough to have known her.
She is preceded in death by her father, Stanely Hinton, sister Marie Hinton, nieces Caitlin Smith and Elizabeth Smith-Companion. She is survived in death by her mother Gladys Hinton, husband David Berkheimer, son Noah (Stephanie) Berkheimer, daughter Megan (Michael) Berkheimer Garrett, stepdaughter Carrie (Kevin) Berkheimer Smith, stepdaughter Amy Berkheimer, grandchildren, Alexis, Jacey, Jaden, Channing, Berkeley, Olivia, Maximus, Henry, and great grandchild Sophia, sister Susan (Rookie) Smith, brother Anthony (Heather) Hinton, as well as many other nieces, nephews, in-laws and close friends.
A celebration of life will be held October 14th from 2:00 – 6:00 PM for family, friends and anyone that knew Anita and would like to take part at The Barn at the Backwoods, 8572 High Point Rd, Thornville, OH 43076.
