Wilfred H. “J.R.” McCartney, Jr., 82, of near Somerset, died at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018 at his residence. J.R. was born December 31, 1935 near Harrisburg, PA, the son of the late Wilford and Helen Lengyel McCartney. He was a retired self-employed mechanic in Columbus, Ohio, and was an avid hunter and rifleman. He is survived by his late fiancées family of nine; neighbors, friends, and a daughter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice McCartney; and his fiancée, Thelma Binegar.
