Stanley Ralph Sherwood, 86, of Somerset, formerly of Thornville, Ohio, died at 11:48 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Altercare of Somerset. Stanley was born February 11, 1932 in Avon, West Virginia, the son of the late Ralph and Mattie Devericks Sherwood. He was a member of New Life Baptist Church in Thornville. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Joyce L. Eads Sherwood, whom he married February 5, 1993; one daughter, Stephanie Sherwood of Columbus; one son, Robert (Jennifer) Sherwood of Newark; four step-daughters, Diana Barrick of Buckeye Lake, Annette of Florida, Cheryl Gillis of Coshocton and Jennifer (Ron) Akers of Warsaw; and a step-son, Kevin Sherwood of Oklahoma. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gale Sherwood and a sister, Mae Ruth Allen. There will be a caring cremation at Stanley’s request.
