Robert Dale “Bob” Dupler, 84, of Somerset, passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Fairfield Medical Center.
Bob was born November 14, 1934 in Millersport, Ohio, the son of the late Howard and Grace (Ridenour) Dupler. He served in the Army with the Korean Conflict from Dec. 1954 to Dec. 1956 in the 10th Division, 86th Regiment, 3rd Battalion Co. He retired from Baltimore Paper Mill and Northern Local School District. On August 1, 1958, he married Mildred VanSickle.
Bob loved to work with the soil and planted many gardens, then donated the produce to family and friends. He was well known for his home- grown tomatoes. He loved to watch his grandchildren play in sporting events and musical programs. Bob liked playing cards, family Sunday night visits, auctions, John Deere, and just having a good time.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mildred “Mid” (VanSickle) Dupler of the home; his children, Brenda (Tim) O’Keefe and Roger (Traci) Dupler, both of Newark, Linda Dupler of Somerset, Janet (Thad) Cooperrider and Vicki (Rick) Jones both of Thornville; nine grandchildren, Ryan (Sarai) Dupler, Shaun (Andi) and Sarah O’Keefe and fiancé Anton, Chelsey and Reece Dupler, Kyle and Trevor Jones, and Dylan and Lindsay Cooperrider; four great-grandchildren, Alexa Dupler, MaKenna Dupler, Sammy Peterson and Peyton O’Keefe; two sisters, Mildred Murray and Miriam Smith of Somerset; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Dupler of Glenford; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Gene, Howard Jr., and Owen “Jake” Dupler; a sister, Eloise Kagey; sisters-in-law, Grace Dupler and Virginia “Toot” Dupler; and brothers-in-law, Clarence Kagey, James Murray and Harold Smith.
Friends may call from 1 - 4 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2018 at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset where services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2018 with Pastor Orrey McFarland officiating. Burial will follow in Somerset Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Somerset American Legion Leo Ryan Post 58.
