Oscar William “Doc” Young, Jr., 81, of Mount Perry, died at 12:35 p.m. Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Altercare of Newark South. Oscar was born May 24, 1937 in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, the son of the late Oscar William, Sr. and Ethel Marie (Young) Young. He was a member of Mount Perry Presbyterian Church, and a 1955 graduate of Raymond High School. He was a self-employed dairy farmer; owner/operator of Tom Hill Processing and O.W. Young Trucking. Oscar was an avid camper and they journeyed all over the country, visiting all but three western states. He was a member of the Ohio National Guard. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, whom he married June 26, 1958 in Marysville, Ohio, Lois L. Burlile Young of the home; four daughters, Sherry (Richard) Kreider of Newark, Cindy (Steve) Burkhart of Norwich, Tina (Greg) Jungling of Newark and Tracey (Anthony) Baker of Newark; 16 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Loretta Breen of Madison, Wisconsin and Martha (Jack) Iarussi of Baltimore, Ohio; one brother, Emerson “Bud” (Sharon) Young of Marysville, Ohio; many nieces and nephews; and his favorite dog, Freddy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Andy and Kevin Young; one grandson; one great-grandson; 11 brothers; an infant sister; and two dogs, Pepper and Duke. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, September 27, 2018 in Mount Perry Presbyterian Church with Pastor Bryan Bushong officiating. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. at the church.
