Mary Lou Waugh, 84, of Somerset died Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Licking Memorial Hospital. Mary Lou was born December 25, 1933 in Perry County, the daughter of the late George J. and Sarah A. Gordon Funk. She was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Rosary Altar Society. She was a 4-H advisor for the Pin and Pan 4-H Club for 16 years. Mary Lou worked in daycare for 12 years at the Somerset Learning Center. She is survived by three daughters, Kathy (Andy) McCarty of Dresden, Janet (Steve) Gaswint of Nashport and Ellen Elsbernd of Cincinnati; three sons, Michael (Kathy) Waugh of Somerset, Charles (Diana) Waugh of Pepperell, MA and Richard (Leslie) Waugh of Millersport; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Rose (Richard) Decot of Edinburg, TX; and a brother, Patrick (Judy) Funk of Woolwich, Maine. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Lee Waugh (Oct. 30, 2005); a daughter, Mary Sterling; a sister, Betty “Janie” Steen (2006); an infant brother, William Funk; two infant granddaughters; and a son-in-law, Ralph Elsbernd. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Stephen Carmody as celebrant, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Gene Dawson. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery.
