Katherine Mae Patterson Sands Waymire, 96, of Somerset, died at 1:55 a.m. Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Genesis Somerset Center.
Katy was born January 12, 1921 in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of the late James W. and Anna E. Patterson.
Katy was a “special” mother, grandmother and homemaker and enjoyed crafting. She was a member of the Jehovah Witness.
She is survived by her sons, Walter (Shirley) Sands and Pete (Linda) Sands; daughters, Annie Smith and Mary (Gene Brown) Pacino; a son-in-law, Larry Armstrong; a brother, Curtis (Wanda) Patterson; 17 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 45 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Sands in 1944; her second husband, Raymond Waymire in 1992; a daughter, Margaret Armstrong; two sons-in-law, Donnie Smith and Anglo Pacino; a brother and sister-in-law; one grandson; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 1-2 p.m. Monday, November 27, 2017 at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset where services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday with FairHoPe Hospice Chaplain Kermit Welty officiating. Burial will follow in Community Gardens.
