Ellouise VanScoy, 83, of Somerset, Ohio, went to be with our Lord and Savior at 9:50 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2019.
Born to Edgar and Dixie Charles in Grey Eagle, WVA on June 29, 1936, Ellouise always seemed to be in motion. A butterfly in flight, she was never one to mention her own accomplishments but was a focused, inspiring force. Her proudest accomplishment was her family, the proud mother of five children, grandmother to 13 and great-grandmother to 17. Her work ethic and quiet, unassuming demeanor belied the wisdom she had to offer. She was at her happiest at home and yet worked many jobs as she brought up her family – a truly charitable soul. Ellouise attended the Rolling Plains United Methodist Church of Zanesville. The wonderful caring hands of Pickering House, FairHope Hospice were a great comfort to Ellouise and her loved ones in her final days.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Forest VanScoy; son, Gordon VanScoy; sisters, Mary Magdalene Johnson, Mable Royster, and brother, Donald Charles.
Survivors include her children, Dinah and Pete Thiel, Morgan and Kelly VanScoy, Jennifer Smith and Shane Mathers and Maureen VanScoy; and two sisters, Dora Blevins and Peggy and Charles Robinette.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home, 203 S. Columbus St., Somerset, Ohio. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2019 in Forest Grove Cemetery, 8270 Cemetery Pike, Plain City, Ohio 43064.
