Dorothy J. (Leckrone) Snider

March 6, 1923 ~ January 9, 2018 (age 94) 94 Years Old
Dorothy J. Snider, 94, of Somerset, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. Dorothy was born March 6, 1923 in Glenford, Ohio, the daughter of the late Carnet and Cleno (Lones) Leckrone. She was a 1941 graduate of Glenford High School and retired after 30 years of owning and operating “Dorothy’s Beauty Shop” in Somerset. Dorothy was a member of the Glenford Lutheran Church during her childhood, and later the Somerset United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Somerset Homemakers, Safford CCL Mother’s Club, and the Women’s Christian group. Dorothy volunteered for many years at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark, Ohio. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. Anyone who knew Dorothy felt the love and kindness of the sweetest woman they would ever meet. Dorothy never met a stranger, and she saw the good in every person she met. Her family was everything to her. She loved nothing more than to go out to eat with one of them, her treat! If it was nice enough to walk up town, that was even better. She would visit Ruth at McGaughey’s any chance she got. Reminiscing about her life with Jimmy and her sisters is a memory that we will hold close to our hearts, trips to Cleveland were the best and she loved a little gambling when she could. Her family and Somerset just won’t be the same without her. There is now one big hole in our hearts. Watching you go was the hardest part. The loss is immeasurable but so is the love left behind. Our mom/grandma was truly one of a kind. Dorothy leaves two daughters, Paulette (Bill) Crane of Somerset, Ohio and Jeannette (Dick) Evans of Rushville, Ohio; two sisters, Mary Ferrini and Deanna Akers, both of Cleveland, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Dodie Snider; six grandchildren, Traci (Justin) Sturgill, Tori (Dan) Wilson, Tara Crane (Robert Padgett), Kim (Mark) Adkins, Adam Evans and Nicole Evans; 18 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren; all who adored her. She will be missed by her church family, Dottie Ackers, and all her new friends at Thornville Rehab. In addition to her parents, Dorothy’s passing reunited her with the love of her life, her husband, James “Jimmy” Snider; 4 sisters, Mid Folk, Helen Snider, Donna Kirkwood and Norma Pucillo, all of Cleveland. Friends may call from 12-3 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2018 at the Somerset United Methodist Church, 139 E. Main St., Somerset, Ohio where services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will follow in Somerset Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio. www.bopethomasfuneralhome.com
