Dorothy May (Elmore) Hampton, 90, of near Somerset, joined her husband, Calvin, at 5:40 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2018.
Dorothy was born October 22, 1927 in Crestline, Ohio, to the late William and Elva (Potter) Elmore. She was always active in the church where she was Sunday School teacher, superintendent and Lay Leader. She was also an award winning private pilot. Dorothy was former owner of Melody Inn Restaurant in Mt. Gilead, Ohio.
She is survived by a son, Lawrence (Nancy) Hampton of Mansfield, Ohio; a daughter, Linda (John) Crossan of Somerset; grandchildren, Wesley (Karen) Hampton, Christopher Hampton and Beth (William) Boggs; 11 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Calvin Edward Hampton (Jan. 31, 2018); a sister, Ruth Davis; and brothers, Ray and Roy Elmore.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2018 in Blooming Grove Cemetery, Galion, Ohio with Pastor Allen Rocky Layne officiating.
