Donald L. Winegardner

Donald L. Winegardner, 90, of Rushville, Ohio, passed away at 6:58 a.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Don was born January 29, 1928 in Junction City, Ohio, the son of the late Guy and Alverta Henry Winegardner. Don retired in 1990 from Diamond Power after 35 years. His passion was farming which he did for nearly 70 years. Since 2008, he sorely missed Lois, his beloved wife of 58 years. He cherished his children and enjoyed all of his grandkids. He generously helped his neighbors over the years in various ways and they reached out to him especially in his declining years. Don was a member of Somerset Church of Christ. He is survived by his children, Nancy (Stephen) Ginn, Cindy (James) Snyder and Ronnie (Janie) Winegardner, all of Rushville; six grandchildren, Onie Hill, Samuel Ginn, Merissa Ferrell, Meagan Bates, Michelle Winegardner and Colten Nash; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernita Ardrey; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois (Arnold) Winegardner (2008); and a sister, Mildred Fahrer. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2018 at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset and one hour prior to the service, which will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the funeral home with Doug Oakes officiating.
