Dean W. Teagarden, 58 of Thornville, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Grant Medical Center. He was born in Newark, Ohio on March 10, 1960 to David and Dorothy (Mathews) Teagarden.
Dean was a US Air Force Veteran and worked as a facility engineer mechanic for Kroger Co. and was a member of the Somerset American Legion Post 58.
He loved to hunt and was a big man with a big heart. His body may be gone but his spirit is still with us. Dean loved little kids in a special way, had a great sense of humor, a nickname for everybody and he was a truly great family man. He could fix anything there was and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t do. I guess something in heaven needed fixed today.
Dean is survived by his wife of 11 years, Ruthann; step-daughter, Olivia A. Minnier of Columbus, Ohio; siblings, Dennis Teagarden of Glenford, Ohio, Denise (Keith) Gillingham of Panama City, Florida, Darlene (Doug) Wells of Buckeye Lake, Ohio and Diana McMahan of Somerset, Ohio; brother-in-law, Keith VanSickle of Thornville, Ohio; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Debra Jean “Debbie” VanSickle in 2018, maternal and paternal grandparents.
Friends may visit from 4-7 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2019 at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home, 203 S. Columbus St., Somerset, Ohio and one hour prior to the service at the church. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at the Somerset United Methodist Church, 139 E. Main St., Somerset, Ohio with the Rev. Karen Walters officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Twp. Lutheran Cemetery with the Somerset American Legion Post 58 conducting military rites at the cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be given to the Somerset American Legion Post 58 in his memory.
