Carol (Padgett) Leckrone

Carol (Padgett) Leckrone, 91, of Thornville, Ohio, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018 at her residence. Carol was born February 14, 1927 in Somerset, Ohio, the daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Stalter) Padgett. She was one of 14 children. She graduated from Holy Trinity School in 1945, and was a beautician in Zanesville before and during her early years of marriage to Russell Leckrone, her husband of 65 years. She was a devoted wife and homemaker, and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the adult choir. She loved to garden, cook, bake, sew, sing, and play the guitar, but often said her favorite role was that of mother. Carol is survived by three daughters, Kathy (Philip) Cooper, Shirley (Robert) Packer and Patricia (Jon) Ridenour; a son, Russell (Ellen) Leckrone, Jr.; a son-in-law, William “Bill” Turnes; her grandchildren, Heather Cooper (Von), Gretchen (Gavin) Waggoner, Anjanette (Jason) Pitcock, Ryan (Mandi) Packer, Kendall (K.C.) Clovis, Molly (Doug) White, Michael, Jennifer and Brad (Erin) Turnes, Nicole (Josh) Wilson, Cory (Ashton) Leckrone, and Grant (Jayme) Szymczak; great-grandchildren, DaVon and Hayven Thomas, Greer and Grayson Waggoner, Ella and Julia Pitcock, Reid, Camdyn and Carmen Packer, Kyen Clovis, Caleb and Colin White, Brady, Blake, Tyler and Megan Turnes, Alexis Wilson, Augie and Luca Leckrone, and Abigail Szymczak; a sister, Marjorie (John) Sullivan; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Leckrone; a daughter, Diane Turnes; brothers, Edward, James, William, Harold and Leo Padgett; sisters, Grace Goodin, Agnes Yike, Mary Fowler, Dorothy Snider, and Ruth Padgett; and a great-grandson, Griffin Waggoner (2009). Friends may call from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, August 26, 2018 at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2018 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Stephen Carmody as celebrant.
