Lynda L. Kaffenberger, 80, of Somerset, passed away at 6:17 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care (Morrison House).
Lynda was born September 8, 1943, in Middleport, Ohio, the daughter of the late Earl and Clarice L. (Barnhart) Willford. She had a lifelong love of country music and was a gifted singer. At a very young age, she had begun traveling around the area singing and playing guitar at places such as Frontier Ranch in company with many country music greats of the time. In her younger years, her father drove her to Nashville to record a 45 record with Clark Records. Later on in life, she would still perform at country music shows in Zanesville and Logan and would occasionally visit nursing homes to sing for the residents. She was also quite well known, especially by her grandchildren, to be a master baker.
She is survived by one daughter, Keena (Mark) Eltringham of New Lexington; one son, Blane (Jackie) Kaffenberger of Hilliard, Ohio; three grandchildren, Tanner Eltringham, Sydney Kaffenberger and Hayden Kaffenberger; two sisters, Brenda (Ron) Gleason of Junction City, and Rhonda Downour (Ray Turner) of Logan; several nieces and nephews; and Roxy the dog.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Kaffenberger (2022).
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2024, in Somerset Cemetery with Doug Oakes officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care, 713 Forest Ave., Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
