Mary Gertrude (Burrows) Neville, age 76, of St. Louisville, Ohio gained her wings after winning her long battle with cancer on May 18, 2017 at the Arlington Care Center in Newark, Ohio surrounded by family.
Mary was born in Mason County, West Virginia on September 11, 1940 to the late Elmer S. Burrows and Edna V. (Persinger-Burrows) Steele.
Mary wore many hats throughout her years.  She drove charter bus for seniors for Kno-Ho-Co, drove bus for Tri-Valley Schools, worked at Longaberger Basket, was an EMT for Coshocton County EMS, and was a nurse’s aide for licking Memorial Hospital.  Mary was a member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union in Rushville, Ohio.  Mary was many things to many people, but most of all, she was a fighter.  She taught all who knew her how to be strong and to never give up hope.
Mary is survived by one son, timothy (Gale) Neville of St. Louisville; one daughter, Karen Hammer (David Merckle) of Nashport; five grandchildren; Christopher (Tina) Neville, Michael (Amanda) Stewart, Jessica Stewart, Robert Hammer, and Randy Merckle, III; nine great grandchildren; Olivia, Rylee, Colton, Reagyn, Taylor, Matt, Emma, Aidan, and Lyonene; three sisters, Evadean Virginia Crandell, Patty (Rusty) Owens, and Ina “Sis” (James) Perdue; many nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Melvin, whom she married on December 30, 1958, two brothers, George Delbert Burrows and William Burrows, two sisters, Virginia Thompson and Edna Persinger, and one brother-in-law, Riley Crandell.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Valerie at Hospice of Central Ohio and Cindy and all the aides that cared for Mary while she was at the Arlington Care Center in Newark.
Funeral service will be held Monday, May 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home, 203 S. Columbus St., Somerset, Ohio 43783 with Pastor Tony Richard officiating.  Burial will be held in Zion Ridge Cemetery.  Friends may visit Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at the funeral home.

I've known Mary for most of my life and will remember her fondly, going to Cedar Point, Nashville, TN or down to West Virginia and being handed her pistol to fire should the bull that resided in the pastor we had to walk thru to get to their family cemetery start to charge us. I spent a lot of time with Mary because of my friendship with her sister, but the family always welcomed me. I know Mary and Melvin are together for eternity and that is truly something to celebrate. RIP Mary and fly with the Angels. My deepest sympathy to Tim, Gale, Karen, Dean, Patty, Sis and family.
